Wes served as the Executive Director of the Idaho Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CDHH), a statewide agency that creates systemic improvements for deaf and hard-of-hearing citizens.  Wes oversaw all operations of the agency, including budget, personnel, public relations, board of director relations, statute compliance, facilities, legislation, bylaw compliance, and inter-agency relations.  In addition, during the time of Wes’s directorship, CDHH housed Idaho’s statewide Early Hearing and Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program—Idaho Sound Beginnings—which oversees the initial hearing screenings and tracking of babies born with hearing loss.  Wes was the Principle Investigator of this EHDI federal program, and he oversaw all its operations.

During his administration, Wes’s primary visionary focus at CDHH was introducing and lobbying for legislation.  His efforts resulted in three successful bills passing the Legislature, as well as the successful defeat of one bill that would have been detrimental to some of CDHH’s constituents.
